about.
my name is Josiah Pearlstein.
I write about culture, media, and identity, with a focus on the assumptions that shape how people react, explain things, and decide what feels normal.
My background is in communication and sociology, and I’m pursuing a Master’s degree in Digital Audience Strategy. That work influences how I read narratives, public conversations, and the quiet ways meaning gets reinforced in everyday life.
Most pieces begin when something familiar is treated as obvious. Instead of moving past it, the writing slows down to look at what’s underneath and why certain reactions persist.
Chatpastel is a place for that kind of work.
