At what some consider “pushing 30,” I’ve found myself drawn to contrast. Whether it’s being an Arizona native who has always loved the rain, the way movement contrasts with stillness, the desire for connection while feeling destined for solitude, or living in digital noise while gathering quiet moments in between.

I spent my early years of adulthood producing music, traveling, and attending concerts, living by the motto “Life begins when you step outside of your comfort zone,” and searching for joy, even when it wasn’t finding me. These days, my limited free hours are spent completing my Bachelors degree.

My love for communication stemmed from a growing interest in travel inspired by Jon Krakauer’s Into the Wild. The story of Christopher McCandless resonated with me through its raw exploration of self-discovery, isolation, and adventure. It made me curious about the ways people search for meaning and connection, often beyond what is familiar. We’re each born with our unique perspectives, shaped by our culture and surroundings. Cultures can align with or clash with others. One culture can feel like a parallel universe to another. Sociology has enabled me to deepen my understanding of how I perceive people, language, and identity, as well as how we create meaning in a hyper-connected world.

The rest of the time, you’ll find me with my two cats, gaming (mainly Fortnite), writing at 2 a.m., and reminding myself that everything takes time.

Chatpastel is where I explore all of that. It’s a quiet, thoughtful space for the things we often feel but don’t always say out loud.
